Lester Nisly, 84, husband of Edna Hershberger Nisly, died Friday, October 23, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on March 28, 1936 to Edward and Lizzie (Yoder) Nisly, in Hutchinson, Kansas.

Mr. Nisly was a charter member of Cold Spring Mennonite Church. He relocated from Hutchinson, Kansas in 1969. Mr. Nisly was the owner of Nisly’s Electric for 44 years. The slogan for his business was ‘Let Us Help You See the Light’. Most importantly, his desire was to show others the light of Jesus.

He also owned a chicken operation. Sunday mornings always found him greeting visitors after church. Mr. Nisly enjoyed gardening and sharing his produce with others. Watching and feeding birds were favorite past-times. Interestingly, the birds got excited and knew it was their feeding time. Mr. Nisly spent hours singing, listening to music, and leading songs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Harley, Daniel, Elmer and William ‘Bill’ Nisly and two sisters, Vera Mae Nisly and Laura Nisly.

Mr. Nisly is survived by his wife of 57 years, Edna, of the home; three daughters, Delores Kauffman (Kevin), Gina Swartzentruber (Glen) and Carolyn Nisly; two sons, Ken Nisly (Gloria) and Wayne Nisly (Leona); two brothers, Larry Nisly (Barbara) and John Fredrick Nisly (Sara); a sister, Barbara Ellen Miller (David E); three sisters-in-law, Iva Nisly, Elizabeth Nisly and Cora Nisly; seventeen grandchildren, Brandon (Krista), Anthony (Melissa), Wesley (Amy), Alanna (Ryan Miller), Kendra, Grant, Kayla, Braden, Rochelle (Chad Miller), Justin (Jalisa), Brad, Cassandra, Landon, Tyler (Larissa), Shannon, Rachel and Shari; ten great-grandchildren and nine honorary grandchildren, Cam and Cooper Freeman, Kolt Collins, Enslee and Ellie Wallace, Jenny Belle Brantly, Annsleigh McCaslan, Taylor Grace Morgan and Titus Speer.

The family will receive friends from 5:30PM to 8:00PM Sunday, October 25, 2020 at Cold Spring Mennonite Church. An outside service to Celebrate Mr. Nisly’s life will be 2:00PM, Monday, October 26, 2020 at Cold Spring Mennonite Church.

The family expresses their sincere thanks for all the prayers, visits, phone calls, kind deeds and food shared during the passing of their loved one.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to the Hillcrest Home, memorial fund for the residents, 1111 Maplewood Rd Harrison, AR 72601.

The family is at the home.

RIP Mr. Nisly... You were such a part of our life when we lived on Monterey Rd.  We send our condolences to your family and prayers.  What wonderful memories we have of you.  You would do work at our farm and then at lunch time would take a nap on our couch after lunch.  Your work was always done with hands of knowledge and Godliness.  You are now in God's house.  We will see you again.  Jerry and Carolyn Miller

Lester was a one-of-a kind.  I always enjoyed being with him whether working or just enjoying time. He was a kind person and a lot of fun.  His zest for life and love for the Lord were always evident. God's richest blessings to you all as you adjust to life without him. Your loss is certainly Heaven's gain. David Swartzentruber

Huge blessings to you as a family! I wasn’t able to attend the visitation or funeral so here is this note. I remember when Lester wired our house some years back. He came to work each day happy and always ready to share some humor with us. I enjoyed being here when he came. I also remember needing a part and asking him about it. He told me to come to his house and he would get it for me from his van. I could always recognize him coming down the road in that step van. ??
