Matthew Thomas Fields, 36, of Abbeville, husband of Lauren Sorrow Fields, died Thursday, October 29, 2020 at his home. He was born in Abbeville to James Thomas ‘Tombo’ Fields and Lisa Harris Fields.

Matt attended Greenwood Christian School and Calhoun Falls High School where he excelled in baseball as a pitcher. He was presently employed with Prysmian in Abbeville. Matt was an enthusiastic Georgia Bulldogs fan and never missed an opportunity to cheer them on. He was dearly loved by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Matt was preceded in death by his grandparents, Martha and Autrey Fields and Linda and Bill Marsh and his mother-in-law, Jean Sorrow.

He is survived by his wife, Lauren, of Abbeville; his children, Brayden Fields, Alexis Hudson, Tyler Hudson, and Bentlee Hudson; his father, Tombo Fields (Kerry), of Lake Secession; his mother, Lisa Fields, of Abbeville; his siblings, Laura Beth Fields and Bryce Fields, both of Abbeville, Terry Scott (Chastity) of Lowndesville and Aaron Walker of Decatur, AL; his father-in-law, Vic Sorrow, of Abbeville; his goddaughter, Natalie Gable; his constant and faithful companion, his dog, Draco; and a wide circle of extended family and friends.

So sorry for your loss. I last saw Matt about 5 years ago, but Mrs Fields was my teacher and I've known the family for around 30 years. I am praying for each and every one of you, for strength, peace and healing.

We are so sorry to hear about Matt. He will definitely be missed. He loved to pick and sometimes he went a lil far but it was all in fun. We shared a lot of laughs. Praying for you all in the days ahead, may God bless you with peace , comfort, and understanding to see you through.
