Obituary for William Hamilton Brickle

William Hamilton Brickle, 92, of Lowndesville, husband of Betty Lou Threlkeld Brickle, died Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at his home. He was born in Greenville to the late Earle Bell Brickle and George Brickle.

Affectionately known as ‘Papa’, William was a graduate of Lowndesville High School and employed with the former Milliken & Co. - Abbeville Plant, retiring in 1993 with 46 years of dedicated service. He took delight in growing and harvesting vegetables which he generously shared with his family, friends and community. William also enjoyed restoring his antique Camaro, participating in and traveling to car shows. He was a member of Smyrna United Methodist Church and worshipped at Union Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Lou; son, Billy Brickle (Carol) of Lake Secession and daughter, Sharon Brickle of Lowndesville; five grandchildren, Curtis Brickle (Jennifer), Paige Bowser (Ben), Cyndi McGee (Reid), Caroline Morgan (Harrison) and Preston Carwile; seven great-grandchildren, EmmyLou, Billie Anne, Wesley, Spencer, Gracie, Jessie, and Tripp; his nieces, nephew and their children, Sandra Parnell (Luke), Cole, Sam, John Orr; Dolores Graham (Jeris), David Earl, Gregory; Johnny Brickle (Teresa), John John; Shelby Jones, Angel, Carmen; Daisy Church (James), Natalie; and his beloved canine companion, Buster.

Funeral Services will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, April 11, 2021, at Union Baptist Church in Iva with Rev. Kyle Caudell and Rev. Scotty Willoughby officiating. Burial will follow in Smyrna Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
