Stephen Newell, 56, of Abbeville died Friday, January 8, 2021 at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont in Greenwood. He was born in Abbeville to the late Richard ‘Dick’ Newell and Beatrice Lewis Newell.

Stephen attended Westside Christian School and Abbeville High School. He was employed in the construction business for many years and, most recently, with Fujifilm Manufacturing. An enthusiastic sports fan, especially football and baseball, Stephen could often be found cheering on the Carolina Gamecocks. He was a member of Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church.

Stephen is survived by his two sons, Brandon Newell, of Nashville, TN and Tanner Newell of Greenwood and a brother, Rick Newell, of Abbeville.

Funeral services will be 11:00AM, Tuesday, January 12, 2021 in the Harris Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Wayne Wicker officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private burial will be held in Long Cane Cemetery.
