John Franklin Fowler, 85, of Abbeville, husband of Maria Pettersson Fowler, died Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at the Upstate Community Hospice House. He was born in Campobello to the late Hubert and Nettie Belle Ballew Fowler.

A graduate of Chapman High School and Clemson University, Mr. Fowler received his Master’s degree from Converse College. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy. Employed with Abbeville School District 60 for 30 years, Mr. Fowler taught Physical Science, Chemistry and Biology at Abbeville High School. He was a member of Bells United Methodist Church.

Mr. Fowler is survived by his wife of 50 years, Maria; two children, Robin Lee Elmore and Rusty Fowler Carter; two sisters. Dale Fowler and Karen F. Rigby; five grandchildren, Terri Maria Bernice Barber, Tiffany Lea Elmore, Stefanie Elmore Wheeler, Whitney Jane Elmore and Elaine Fleming Perkle; five great-grandchildren, Erica Kenzie Barber, Allison Blake Barber, Elijah Blake Russo, Ava Sue Wheeler, and Ryanne Wheeler.

Graveside services will be held, 11:00AM Friday, November 4, 2022, in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with the Rev. Scott Allen officiating..
