John Spratt Bacot, Jr., 57, of South Carolina, died Friday, April 29, 2022, at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital. He was born in Columbia, SC to Rev. Dr. John Spratt Bacot, Sr and Marion ‘Mishie’ Small Bacot.
John, a 1986 graduate of the United States Military Academy West Point, owned and operated the Yellow Cab Company of Greenville. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during Desert Storm and was awarded a Bronze Star.
John was described as the life of the party, a rolling stone who gathered no moss and a man who kept it interesting. He enjoyed traveling and had been to every continent except Antarctica. His favorite thing to do was adventuring while abroad, having run with the bulls in Spain, fished in Central America, hunted doves in Argentina and snorkled in South Africa and Asia. John made friends everywhere he went. He cherished life, cared deeply for his friends and loved his family. Gone too soon, he will be sorely missed.
John is survived by his children, John Coleman Bacot of Starkville, MS and Sarah Holland Bacot of New Orleans, LA; parents, Rev. Dr. John S. and Marion ‘Mishie’ Bacot of Greenwood, SC; siblings, Marion Bacot (Mitch Clodfelter) of Stanley, NC and Adam Bacot (Lori) of Greenwood, SC; grandchildren, Joy Lynn Bacot, Sarah Grace Bacot and Holland Hope Bacot (due this June); two nieces and a nephew, Kate Clodfelter, Mason Bacot and Alex Bacot; many extended family and friends.
A Service of Witness to the Resurrection for John S. Bacot, Jr. will be 4:00PM, Saturday, June 25, 2022 in Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2330 Cokesbury Road, Greenwood SC 29649 with Rev. Caroline Dennis officiating. A reception to celebrate John's life will follow from 6:00PM - 9:00PM in the Sundance Gallery, 146 Maxwell Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646. Food and drinks will be provided.
For those who are traveling, we have reserved a block of rooms at the Inn on the Square in Greenwood, SC. It is walking distance from the Sundance Gallery.
