Obituary for Helen G Timmerman
Helen Gurley Timmerman, 81, of Abbeville, wife of the late Bruce Timmerman, Sr., died Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Self Regional Healthcare. She was born in Anderson County, SC to the late T.T. and Beatrice Simpson Gurley.
Mrs. Timmerman graduated from Dixie High School, Class of 1959, where she was a member of the Dixie High School Band color guard. She was employed in retail for many years with the former Revco Discount Drug Store and CVS Pharmacy, Inc. Among her many talents, Mrs. Timmerman was especially known for baking her famous chocolate cake. She enjoyed nature, particularly red birds, hummingbirds and flowers. Mrs. Timmerman loved her family with all her heart; above all, her great-grandchildren. She and her late husband were founding members of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Mrs. Timmerman was a member of Rice Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Rudolph Gurley and Haskell Gurley; and a sister, Betty Gurley.
Mrs. Timmerman is survived by her children, David Bruce Timmerman, Jr. (Lisa) of Abbeville, Debbie T. Uldrick (Ken) of Greenwood and Dana T. Wiley (Mark) of Abbeville; sister, Gail McGowan of Anderson; eight grandchildren, Hannah Davis (Andy), Matthew Timmerman (Taylor), Keri Young (Seth), Kasey Deason (Rusty), Trent Uldrick (Teddi), Ashleigh Timmerman, Landon Uldrick and Sarah Timmerman; nine great-grandchildren, Claire, Peyton, Grayson, Christina, Mack, Tinsley, Patrick, Wells and Kate; special niece and nephew, Tracy Williams (Eric), Tommy Kelley (Angie), many other nieces, nephews and a special friend, Donna Sue Richardson.
The family will receive friends 3:00PM - 4:00PM, Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 4:30PM, Saturday, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dr. Alvin Hodges officiating. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery. Those serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Timmerman, Trent Uldrick, Landon Uldrick, Andy Davis, Seth Young and Rusty Deason.
Memorial contributions, in memory of Mrs. Timmerman, may be sent to Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.
