Obituary for Donald L. Webb
Donald L. ‘Don’ Webb, 82, of the Savannah Lakes Community, husband of Katherine Wolcott Webb, died Friday, January 20, 2023 at Self Regional Healthcare. He was born in Detroit, MI to the late Donald Albert and Dorothy Weiss Webb.
A 1975 graduate of Wayne State University, Don retired from General Motors as a design engineer after 17 years of dedicated service. In 2001, he and Katherine relocated to the Savannah Lakes Community, where they fell in love with the land and community. Don had longed to design and build his dream home and moving to Savannah Lakes offered the perfect opportunity. There, they built the ‘castle’ as his family refers to it.
Don was an avid reader, teacher by nature, sports car enthusiast, movie buff and student of the stock market. He and Katherine spent the better part of a decade dedicating their time and resources to the Humane Society of McCormick County. Don was a member of the McCormick Car Club, where he enjoyed sharing his passion for cars and learning from others. He will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.
Mr. Webb is survived by his wife of 58 years, Katherine, of the home; a son, Donald Webb, Jr., of Commerce, MI; a daughter, Robin Ankton (Lydell), of West Bloomfield, MI; a brother, Bruce Webb (Linda), of Texas; two grandchildren, Alexandra Scott of Commerce, MI and Armani Ankton of West Bloomfield, MI.
A service to celebrate Don’s life will be at a later date.
