Obituary for Del Owen
Delbert G. ‘Del’ Owen, 86, of McCormick, SC, husband of Mary ‘Beth’ Johnson Owen, died Thursday, May 12, 2022, at Self Regional Healthcare. He was born in Red Boiling Springs, TN to the late Thomas and Ruth Carver Owen.
Del proudly served his country in the United States Navy. A graduate of Tennessee Tech with a degree in electrical engineering, Del retired from Dupont as an electrical engineer after many years of dedicated service. He enjoyed golfing and woodworking and was a member of the McCormick First Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Van Owen.
Del is survived by his wife of almost 37 years, Beth; three daughters, Cindy Cox (Mark) and Lisa Fountain (Travis), all of Aiken, SC and Cheree Crawford (Jay) of Cumming, GA; three sisters, Phyllis Jones (Bill), Diane Russell (Ken Parsons) and Judy Gibson, all of Tennessee; a sister-in-law, Martha Owen of California; six grandchildren, Thomas Glover (Emily), Adam Glover (Nicole), Laura Cox, Leigh Ann Carter (Chad), Tyler Crawford and Kyle Crawford; and four great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Lucas, Charlotte and Olivia.
The family will receive friends from 10:00AM – 12:00 Noon, Monday, May 23, 2022, in Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 2:00PM at M.J. ‘Dolly’ Cooper Veterans Cemetery, 140 Inway Drive, Anderson, SC 29621 with Rev. Chris Gulledge officiating and military honors.
