Obituary for Beatrice Ashley (Chadwick)
Beatrice Chadwick Ashley, 91, of Due West, SC, wife of the late Harvey Glenn ‘Pie’ Ashley, died Monday, November 29, 2021 at the J. F. Hawkins Nursing Home in Newberry, SC. She was born in Abbeville, SC to the late Samuel C. Chadwick and Lillie Mae Ross Chadwick Hammonds.
‘Bea’ as she was affectionately known, attended Abbeville County Schools. She retired from the sewing plant in Honea Path, SC. Bea was a member of the Due West Baptist Church and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two children, Kenneth Glenn Ashley and Brenda Ashley Dedo; four brothers, Samuel ‘Junior’ Chadwick, Jimmy Chadwick, Billy Chadwick and Truman Chadwick; and sister, Nellie Ruth Gunnells.
Bea is survived by her grandchildren, Tara Sosebee, Jeffrey Ashley, Chad (Pamela) Ashley; great-grandchildren, Madison Sosebee and Brayden Ashley, all of Commerce, GA; three brothers, Dewey Chadwick of Columbia, SC, Randall Chadwick of Donalds, SC and Wilbur Hammonds; daughter-in-law, Selena Rush Ashley of Commerce, GA; son-in-law, Don Dedo of Due West, SC; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Graveside services will be 1:00PM, Friday, December 3, 2021, in the Due West Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the graveside.
